Brimstone and Palm Court

Visitors to Brimstone Hill Relaxing beneath a Flamboyant Tree

Brimstone Hill and Palm Court Gardens are the perfect partners; one requires effort and invigorates, the other is effortless and relaxes… Mmmmm that’s the way to go!

We kick off in the capital Basseterre driving West past the nesting site of the white egrets and we pass many villages along the way. We drive through Old Road Town – the first capital, giving glimpses of rural life as it is lived on the island. En route is the tomb of Samuel Jefferson, the great-great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America.

The next stop – Brimstone Hill – lasts for approximately 40 enjoyable and memorable minutes. The magnificent Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a world Heritage site reputed to be the best in the Caribbean. It sits eight hundred feet above sea level, easily giving some the best views in all of the Caribbean! Amenities include an orientation room, gift shop, museum and a cafe. There is much to see as we walk and explore it. In the words of past visitors, “boy it is worth it!”

Palm Court Gardens

Then to soothe and relax you (since you are on vacation), your experience takes you on a tour of Bassettere – the capital with its rich history and beautiful architecture, then to Palm Court Gardens with its many treasures. Palm Court Gardens is a secret haven tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Basseterre; an enchantingly magical garden waiting to be explored. It is a delightful medley of exotic plants and majestic palms, soothing music, cocktails and breathtaking panoramas. At Palm Court Gardens there are many treasures that you absolutely must experience. It is a setting that will soothe the mind body and spirit.

Palm Court Gardens also boasts a pool, a jacuzzi, a bar, quiet enclaves and beautiful unexpected views. As if that is not enough, there is an astonishing collection of unique pieces of “Shell Art,” for that perfect practical gift, the creation of Swiss born, now local, Claudia Amory. You may stay at Palm Court Gardens for as long as you wish, just tell the driver what time to pick you up or enjoy a 10 minute stroll along the Bay Road back to Port Zante and the ship.
